Powder Day in Colorado

Jon, Elli and I went skiing in Winter Park, Colorado for Christmas Break.

We left mom at home on Christmas morning and spent 48 hours on the train into Winter Park. I am convinced that Nebraska is a four-letter word. Amtrak had to switch engines twice on our way across Nebraska because the first one had electrical problems and the second caught FIRE!

Instead of getting about 24 hours to acclimatize to the elevation, we got three hours of sleep before we hit the slopes.

The first two days the snow was thin. On our second day of skiing Winter Park opened the Panoramic Express – their six-person chair that tops out at 12,300 feet. I was really feeling the elevation, but the skiing was good and long.

It started snowing during our third day and by the time we hit the slopes on New Year’s Eve, there was knee deep powder in Parsenne Bowl! We hit one run where there were no tracks down the bowl, and we just laughed the whole way down. Elli was laughing so hard, she fell over at the bottom. All you could see was her helmet.
